Welcome to our Green Roads Full Spectrum CBD Oil Review!

From our first point of contact with Green Roads—interviewing them and sampling their products for our Green Roads Review—and on, we’ve held the pharmacist-led brands to their claims of higher quality standards.

Such is the case with Green Roads Full Spectrum CBD Oil, which swirls together a potent blend of cannabinoids and a surprising burst of caramel flavor to create a unique experience.

Our reviewers found this hemp oil to be effective, easy to use, and a decent, albeit not groundbreaking value.

It’s not a hyper-targeted formula, but if you’re looking for a safe and reliable way to access the mellowing effects of hemp, we recommend Green Roads Full Spectrum CBD Oil.

Pros and Cons

Let’s start with the pros:

  • Excellent formulation
  • Strong concentration
  • Effective for stress and mood

And now the cons:

  • CBD under-delivered (lab report vs label)
  • Lower ratio of supporting (non-CBD) cannabinoids

Quality

This is where we assess not only end product quality, but the several key factors that contribute to it, such as (but not limited to):

  • Sourcing standards, locations, and oversight
  • Ingredient and formulation quality
  • Product, facility, and lab certifications
  • In-house technical knowledge

On the sourcing front, Geen Roads works directly with hemp growers in California, Oregon, and North Carolina, all of whom use organic methods.

Green Roads then uses the industry gold standard of hemp extraction methods—CO2 extraction—to safely and efficiently derive their extracts from the plant material.

After manufacturing, every batch of products is tested by Kaycha Labs, an ISO-17025 accredited facility that performs full-panel testing (cannabinoid density, residual solvents, toxins, other contaminants).

Both on the Green Roads website and via QR codes on product packaging, customers can access certificates of analysis from the lab, verifying all of these values.

Technical knowledge runs deep, as the Green Roads formulation team is staffed by multiple pharmacists (including owner Laura Fuentes); this extra layer of expertise shines through many of their hemp products, which contain optimized carrier oils and absorption enhancers rarely seen elsewhere.

Finally, Green Roads upholds both GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices, an FDA-ready designation) and over-the-counter certifications on their hemp products.

All of this considered, opportunities for any objective complaints as to the quality of sourcing, manufacturing, testing, or expertise are slim to none.

Concentration

We ordered the 15mL bottle of Green Roads Full Spectrum Hemp Oil, which, at 50mg of CBD per single-milliliter dropper, yields 750mg of CBD.

This tincture is also available in another 50mg/serving concentration (30mL bottle, 1500mg CBD total) and a significantly toned down 10mg/serving concentration (30mL bottle, 300mg CBD).

Here is the cannabinoid breakdown according to the Kaycha lab report for our 750mg bottle (values reported as “per serving/per bottle”)

  • Total CBD: 46.016mg/690.24mg
  • Total CBG: 0.143mg/2.145mg
  • CBC: 0.401mg/6.01mg
  • Total THC: 0.306mg/4.59mg

It almost goes without saying, since the product ended up in our hands, but this batch passed all tests for residual solvents, heavy metals, mycotoxins and other potential contaminants.

As for the cannabinoid content, the CBD content is under-delivered a tad beyond the 3-6% that we often see, almost approaching 10% under the label claim.

A cumulative 13 or so grams of THC and other supporting cannabinoids like CBC and CBG helps to bridge this gap, but we’ve seen several full-spectrum products climb to higher levels in this regard as well.

Overall, the clean lab report and at least a decent showing on the supporting cannabinoid front point to a well-developed product, but we’d like to see both of the aforementioned numbers (CBD and supporting cannabinoids) pumped up in future iterations.

Value

The 15ml/750mg Green Roads Full Spectrum CBD Oil tincture retails for $69.99 on the site, reducing to about 9.3 cents per milligram of CBD.

Excluding low-quality brands, the broad range of trusted CBD brands we’ve reviewed form a spectrum of price that stretches from about $0.03/mg to approximately $0.13/mg for their standard full-spectrum CBD oil tinctures.

For a well-formulated, cannabinoid-dense spectrum from a reputable brand, we consider anything under $0.10/mg to be a decent value, and anything under $0.06/mg to be a very competitive price.

Context established, Green Roads is pricing themselves pretty close to the center; worth it to those who appreciate the nuances in the formulation quality, but perhaps a bit pricey compared to some other brands.

Packaging

Our Green Roads Full Spectrum Hemp Oil arrived in the usual format, including a small box, a darkly tinted tincture bottle with a (demarcated) dropper lid enclosed within, and a QR code for accessing lab reports on both the box and bottle.

Labeling real estate is even more scarce than usual on a 15mL (as opposed to the more common 30mL) bottle, but Green Roads still managed to squeeze the following onto the bottle label and proportionally small box:

  • Ingredients
  • Product facts
  • Warnings
  • Blurb 1: Describing the product
  • Blurb 2: Explaining different hemp extract types (full spectrum vs isolate, etc.).
  • QR codes

Considering we’ve seen 30mL bottle/box combos that don’t incorporate a single extra blurb, we’re grateful for the efficient use of the space.

Throughout our use of the tincture, we didn’t have any issues with the bottle or the dropper lid, so it’s top marks from us for packaging.

Ingredients

Here is the full ingredient list for Green Roads Full Spectrum CBD Oil:

Hemp Derived Full Spectrum Cannabinoid (CBD) Extract, Glycerin, MCT Oil (Fractionated Coconut oil), Hemp Seed Oil, Sunflower Lecithin, Helianthus annus (Sunflower) seed oil, and Natural Bitterness Masking Flavor

As mentioned, Green Roads products often contain longer ingredient lists, which they attribute to a more detailed attention to pharmacologically sound additions that facilitate hemp absorption and other key factors.

The preservative-adjacent sound of “sunflower lecithin” might elicit a suspicious eyebrow raise from discerning CBD users, but this highly common emulsifier is natural and generally accepted as safe.

Three fatty oils offer a much larger than average panel of lipids to enhance absorption of the hemp—which is lipophilic, or “fat loving.”

Overall, the clean and definitively upscaled ingredient list points to a superior formulation.

Flavor and Texture

Green Roads Full-Spectrum CBD Oil lands on the tongue very sweetly, which was a bit of a surprise, and though we acknowledge the effort with the “Natural Bitterness Masking Flavor,” it gives way to the usual bitterness of hemp within a couple of seconds.

This is also one of a rare selection of hemp oils we’ve tried that causes a rush of heat as soon as it hits the tongue.

The texture seemed thicker than usual, but not to the extent that it was a problem.

Overall, our review team enjoyed the taste, and though it didn’t mask the bitterness completely, our Green Roads Full-Spectrum CBD Oils had a short-lived aftertaste.

Effectiveness

Chief among the noticeable benefits of this Green Roads Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil were the calming and mood-elevating effects.

About an hour and a half after taking a full dropper under the tongue, we began to feel that characteristic de-stressing effect that made work or home curveballs seem less curvy.

We can’t say it was super effective for relieving discomfort, but we did notice a significant uptick in mood, a sense of levity and positivity that, when paired with a reduction in stress, made after-work shenanigans with friends and loved ones that much more easy-going and enjoyable.

Conclusion

All of the quality boxes are checked in the case of this Green Roads Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil tincture, including a reliable third-party tester and sound manufacturing methods.

The ingredient list is impressive from a formulation perspective, but we would like to see the lab reports more closely match the label claim for CBD content.

Our review team noticed significant improvements in mood and stress that lasted for at least 3-4 hours after a full serving (50mg), though not a lot of relief from physical discomfort.

Green Roads Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil is at a middling price point, but if you’re looking for an above-average formulation led by a team of pharmacists, perceived value will surely go up.

Overall, this tincture lives up to Green Roads’ claims, and we recommend it for anyone looking for a safe and effective way to combat stress and low mood.
